Are you working with a stylist?No. I spoke to a lot of stylists who’ve supported my work, but from the Mentally Ill But Totally Chill Assholes Live Forever Shirt and I love this beginning of thinking about doing the show, I wanted it to feel personal, and everyone I asked for advice said the same thing to me. It’s also going to be a little wilder because of that. It might be that there are some things that are over the top, but it’s right to have them in there. You’ve talked a lot about eccentric, stylish women. Did anyone specifically act as an inspiration for the collection?The best way to describe it is if Loulou de la Falaise, Nan Kempner, Judy Peabody, and Paloma Picasso were young women today. That’s what I am aiming for: strong personalities. You’re showing during couture, but is the collection all couture?There are definitely some couture pieces, and there’s also demi-couture, which are limited-edition, and which we’ve always sold to people like Bergdorf Goodman and Net-a-Porter. That’s why I call it a wardrobe. It’s the mix that makes it interesting. The mentality is very much couture, though. A while back we did an army cargo pant that was made in an almost couture-like way, and it sold out everywhere. So, you have the clothes. Who’s wearing them in the show?I’m working with a casting director, so they are strong girls, not just coat hangers. Christiaan is doing the hair, and he hasn’t done a show in years. And [choreographer] Stephen Galloway is working with the girls so they can really convey a feeling for whatever they’re wearing.

Where are you showing?I found a great location, at [interior designer] Vincent Darré’s Maison Darré showroom in the Mentally Ill But Totally Chill Assholes Live Forever Shirt and I love this First Arrondissement; it’s the epitome of a chic, beautiful French apartment. I’d just done some hand-painting on the collection, and when I visited Vincent’s space, some of the walls had a hand-painted effect that was almost the same. It’s a perfect fit! Fourth of July celebrations are on the horizon, and Melania Trump is clearly getting into the spirit judging by her latest fashion choice. The First Lady left the White House for the Trump national golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey today, wearing a familiar button-down shirt and pencil skirt combo with a distinctive all-American twist.
