Support Veterans Shirt

Support Veterans Shirt

While Kish continues her hot streak of suited looks that, as stylist Eric McNeal explains, stem from her desire to “look as effortless as possible,” Staples wanted to bring a “wild card” factor to his deceptively simple outfit, which could have easily remained traditional if not for McNeal’s collar-doctoring. Staples requested that McNeal do something “really cool and interesting with the Support Veterans Shirt but in fact I love this collar,” so McNeal quickly “took half of the collar off and stitched it down on the right side.” Overall, Staples and Kish both looked as sharp as they sounded last night, each bringing their distinct signatures. While being run off my feet going to menswear shows in London, Florence, and Paris over the past few weeks, I’ve also managed to put plenty of energy into kicking myself. Damn! Why did I ever deliver my old pile of chinos to the charity shop? Up until about two weeks ago, in the eyes of the fashionable, these archetypal casual trousers practically served as the universal symbol for middle-aged mom and dad-dom, an embarrassment. But now look what’s happened! The unthinkable chino is not just thinkable—it’s suddenly radioactively hot.

Official Support Veterans Shirt

Martine Rose delivered the Support Veterans Shirt but in fact I love this first of the neo-chino sightings in London. Then came JW Anderson in Florence, with one full and drapey version, a narrower almost regular J.Crew-like type, and a pair of chino Bermudas. So here were two of fashion’s coolest young designers leading the rehabilitation of the most looked-down-upon generic pair of trousers in the male lexicon. Could this actually be? Oh, yes it was! The chino revival continued, in all the best places, where the cut is exquisite and the taste impeccable: at Fendi and Ermenegildo Zegna in Milan, at Hermès in Paris. Before long, I was silently moaning to myself, I want a pair! The sight of all these re-cooled chinos had whooshed me back to the ’90s, when all things were new, the Gap was fresh, and Helmut Lang and Jil Sander were giving us minimalist permission to go about in a practical but not unsexy unisex uniform.
